Ephesians 3:20

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”

When I seek God, sometimes it can be easy to forget that His power can exceed my expectations.

Mark chapter 5 always reminds us that God is able to do so much more than we could ever ask or imagine. The best thing that the demoniac could have imagined or asked for would have been to be delivered, and when he was he begged Jesus for the opportunity to go with Him, Jesus did even more than he expected. Instead, Jesus sent him to “Go home to [his] own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for [him]”. More than deliverance, Jesus gave him a purpose and a call. (Mark 5:19)

The best-case scenario that the chronically ill woman could have imagined when she reached out to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment was to be healed. When she reached out to Him, Jesus did even more than she expected! More than healing, Jesus gave her freedom and peace (Mark 5:34).

The best thing that Jairus and his wife have asked for is healing for their terminally-ill young daughter. When the report came that she had died, Jesus proved that He could do more than what we expected. More than granting a cure, Jesus restored a young girl’s life! (Mark 5:42).

When you seek God’s help, how do you expect Him to deliver?

Thought of the day: Make an outrageous request! Take some time to imagine what God’s intervention into your situation could look like. Ask Him for it. Rest in the truth that God’s power ALWAYS exceeds our expectations.
