Taking Ground | Week 4

Day 6

“Tell your children and their children after them about the faithful acts of the Lord.” -Joel 1:3

The most powerful thing about generosity is that it never ends with us. Every time we give, serve, or sow into God’s kingdom, we’re not just blessing the present—we’re building for the future. True generosity creates legacy.

Throughout Scripture, God’s blessings are always generational. When Abraham obeyed God, his faith impacted Isaac, Jacob, and countless descendants after them. David’s heart for God led to Solomon building the temple. And the generosity of the early church in Acts birthed a movement that changed the world.

Each of these stories reminds us that obedience doesn’t stop with one person—it multiplies. Your faithfulness today can change the trajectory of a family, a community, even a nation.

That’s what we see in stories like the man who gave his last $7 and watched God multiply it, or the church member who decided to tithe for the first time and saw supernatural provision. Those acts of obedience didn’t just affect them—they became testimonies for others. Every act of generosity writes a story that others can read and believe through.

At Coastal, this is what the “Greater” vision represents—not just generosity for today, but a legacy of impact for generations to come. When the church gives to plant new congregations, translate Bibles, or send students to camp, those gifts ripple into eternity. Children are raised in faith. Churches are born. Lives are changed. Decades from now, someone will trace their salvation story back to a gift you gave.

Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children.” That inheritance is more than money—it’s a model of faith. When your kids see you putting God first, when they hear the stories of how He provided, when they witness generosity in action, they inherit something priceless: trust in God’s faithfulness.

This is why financial obedience matters so deeply. It’s not just about what we do with our money—it’s about who we become and what we leave behind. Our giving becomes a testimony that outlives us. Every dollar given toward God’s kingdom is a seed that grows fruit long after we’re gone.

Someday, when we stand before the Lord, we’ll see what our generosity accomplished. We’ll meet people from around the world who came to know Jesus because of something we sowed. And we’ll realize it was never about the amount—it was about the heart, the obedience, and the legacy.

Taking ground is not only about what we gain; it’s about what we give that keeps growing. A life of generosity outlives the giver. It builds the kingdom, blesses generations, and echoes through eternity.

So live today with tomorrow in mind. Give in a way that tells future generations: “God was faithful, and we trusted Him with everything.”

That’s how you leave a legacy that lasts.
