THE BOOK OF DANIEL | WEEK 6
Day 5
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.” – Joshua 1:8
We can change our habits for a few days…
but if our thinking doesn’t change, our life eventually snaps back to what it’s always been.
That’s the real battle.
Not just what we do, but how we think.
Not just behavior, but belief.
God’s instruction to Joshua goes deeper than action. He doesn’t just say “obey”, He says meditate. Stay in it. Think about it. Let it settle. Let it shape us from the inside out.
Because God knows something we often overlook:
We don’t consistently live beyond what we internally believe.
We can try to act different.
We can try to be more disciplined.
We can try to “do better.”
But if our inner world stays the same,
our outer life eventually follows it right back.
This is why some people feel stuck.
They want a different life…
but they are operating from the same mindset.
Israel is the perfect picture of this.
God brought them out of Egypt, but Egypt was still in them.
They were free physically… but not mentally.
They still thought like slaves:
fearful instead of trusting
reactive instead of obedient
focused on survival instead of promise
And because of that, they wandered far longer than they had to.
That’s not just their story, that’s ours too.
We can be saved… and still think like we’re stuck.
We can know truth… and still default to fear.
We can have promises… and still live like they won’t happen.
That’s why God emphasizes meditation.
Because whatever we dwell on, eventually defines us.
If we dwell on fear, we will live cautiously.
If we dwell on pressure, we will live overwhelmed.
If we dwell on past failure, we will live limited.
But if we dwell on God’s Word…
we begin to live differently.
Pastor Chad said it clearly:
“If you want to be different, you have to think and speak different.”
That’s not just motivational, that’s biblical transformation.
Romans 12 says we are transformed by the renewing of our mind.
Not by trying harder.
Not by wanting it more.
But by thinking differently over time through truth.
And here’s where it gets deeper:
God is not just trying to give us better thoughts,
He is trying to give us a new lens for our entire life.
A lens where:
God is in control, even when life feels uncertain
Obedience is worth it, even when it’s hard
Our identity is rooted in Him, not our past
Our future is shaped by His promises, not our fears
But that kind of transformation doesn’t happen casually.
It happens intentionally.
It happens when we sit with God’s Word long enough for it to confront us.
Because let’s be honest, sometimes Scripture doesn’t just comfort us…
it corrects us.
It exposes:
where we don’t trust God
where we’re trying to control everything
where fear has more influence than faith
where our thinking is shaped more by culture than by truth
And that can feel uncomfortable.
But that discomfort is where growth begins.
Because God doesn’t expose things to shame us,
He exposes them to change us.
So here’s the deeper question for today:
What is God trying to change in us, not around us?
Is it our need to control outcomes?
Is it our tendency to assume the worst?
Is it our habit of speaking negatively over our life?
Is it our lack of trust in God’s timing?
Don’t rush past that.
Sit with it.
Because this is where real transformation happens, not in information, but in surrender.
When we allow God’s Word to challenge your thinking…
and we choose to align with it anyway.
Over time, something powerful begins to take place.
Our reactions slow down.
Our perspective shifts.
Our faith deepens.
We begin to respond differently, not because you’re forcing it…
but because something inside us has actually changed.
And one day, we’ll find ourselves in a situation that used to trigger fear…
and instead, there’s peace.
Not because the situation changed.
But because we did.
That’s what it means to go deeper.
Not just reading the Word…
but letting the Word rewrite us from the inside out.
